Sevada Aghasar who is a renowned musician and Christian songwriter, a member of Armenian Orthodox church in Majidiyeh, a suburb of Tehran, who was arrested a few years ago with Rev Vruir Avanessian of ‘Jamaate Rabani Church’ has now been sent to prison for five years.
His crime is witnessing to fellow Iranians and leading them to Jesus as well as teaching them to follow Jesus’s teachings.
As the West is gearing up for another round of sanctions against Iran, and worries how to contain the missile development program in Iran, the regime is relentless in persecuting Iranian Christians. This atrocity, perpetrated against innocent Iranian citizens who are virtually gagged and live under constant fear of being arrested, is widely going unnoticed! The West has bigger and far more important issues to sort out.
The feeling in Iran is that if the plight of few remains unattended, as it happened in Syria or Iraq, in the not so distant future we might see much larger scale of human catastrophe. Sevada is not the only Christian suffering in Iranian prisons. There are many who are in the same situation. Christians in Iran hope that the Western leaders will not be deceived by the slogans of freedom and will make every opportunity to force the ‘unrepentant’ Iranian clerics to respect human rights.
Friends and family have asked FCNN to request Christians all across the world to pray for the release of Sevada and all other Christian prisoners.
