National Council of Resistance of Iran: IRGC Quds Force Trains Non-State Actors Inside the Country and Sends Them Abroad

The “National Council of Resistance of Iran,” the political branch of the “People’s Mujahedin Organization,” presented information about the structure and maritime units of proxy groups affiliated with the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at a ceremony. This group, which opposes the Islamic Republic, says the Quds Force has created proxy maritime units and sends foreign non-state actors to their respective countries after training in Zibakansar.

At this session held on Wednesday, February 3 in Washington, representatives of the “National Council of Resistance of Iran” announced that the Quds Force’s facilities and capabilities for carrying out terrorist operations are primarily used in areas where Yemen’s Houthis are active. Their target is to attack commercial ships, particularly at the Bab al-Mandab.

Ali Reza Jafarzadeh, Deputy Head of the “National Council of Resistance of Iran” Representation in America, stated at this meeting that the information being presented was collected by the People’s Mujahedin, saying that members of units trained by the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards have been recruited from Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, and African countries, including Somalia and Djibouti. He added: The facilities where they receive training are located in Zibakansar on the Caspian shores and on Qeshm and Farur islands in the Persian Gulf.

This senior National Council of Resistance of Iran official, in response to a question from the Persian Service of Voice of America about what message “the information disclosed by this group carries for the region and the world,” said: This disclosure shows that the Iranian regime remains the main threat to the region and the world, and while eighty percent of people in Iran live below the poverty line, a significant portion of the country’s income is spent on proxy groups.

Mr. Jafarzadeh also responded to another question about what demands the “National Council of Resistance of Iran” has from Congress and the White House at this time. Referring to the remarks made last night by Bob Menendez, senior Democratic Senator and a member of the president’s party who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he said the nature of the Iranian government is terrorist and should not be negotiated with.

Senator Menendez called on the Biden administration on February 1, which is engaged in indirect negotiations with Iran to revive the JCPOA, to adopt new policies to counter Iran’s nuclear program, missile program, and Islamic Republic’s support for its proxy groups, and declared his opposition to JCPOA revival negotiations.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has not yet reacted to this National Council of Resistance of Iran session.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran has previously held sessions on nuclear sites and covert activities of the Islamic Republic. Earlier, in October, the National Council of Resistance held a ceremony in Washington where it released information about the Quds Force’s drone programs and the network of drone manufacturing and production of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
