Continued Detention of “Sadri Bakhshi” at Urmia Intelligence Detention Facility and Threats Against Her Family

“Sadri Bakhshi,” a 43-year-old Kurdish woman from the village of Weshtapeh in Boukan, remains detained at the Urmia Intelligence Administration detention facility approximately one month after her arrest. Her detention is related to the posting of stories on Instagram, and her family has also been threatened due to the media coverage of her case.

The Hengaw Human Rights Organization reported that government forces raided Sadri Bakhshi’s residence in the village of Weshtapeh, a suburb of Boukan, approximately one month ago with eight military vehicles. After searching the house, officers arrested her and confiscated her mobile phone.

According to other released information, the arrest of this citizen occurred following the posting of several stories on the Instagram social network in the wake of Ali Khamenei’s death during American and Israeli attacks. However, responsible authorities have thus far provided no clear and public explanation regarding the reasons for her detention or any potential charges against her.

According to informed sources, Sadri Bakhshi has been able to make only one brief contact with her family during her detention. Additionally, security agencies have threatened her family that if they disclose information about her arrest, they may face severe judicial sentences.

Based on the same report, Sadri’s health status is unknown, and she has been deprived of access to a lawyer and visits with her family. The continuation of these conditions, without transparent information regarding her legal status, has heightened concerns about the observance of this citizen’s fundamental rights.

Arrest for expressing opinions or publishing critical content on social media raises serious questions about freedom of expression and the right to peaceful protest. Depriving detainees of regular contact with their families and access to lawyers, coupled with threats against their relatives to prevent disclosure of information, also restricts public oversight of detainees’ conditions.

At the time of this report’s publication, independent information regarding formal charges, health status, and the judicial proceedings of Sadri Bakhshi’s case is not available. Her family and public opinion continue to await transparent accountability regarding her place of detention, legal rights, and the fate of this citizen.
