Execution of the deportation order of Mohammad Reza Omidi, a Christian convert, to Borazjan

Mohammad Reza (Yohan) Omidi, a Christian convert, was sent to the city of Borazjan to serve his two-year sentence in exile. Mr. Omidi was released from Evin Prison on August 19, after serving his two-year sentence.
According to HRANA News Agency, citing Article 18, on Monday, September 14, 2020, Mohammad Reza (Johan) Omidi, a Christian convert, traveled to the city of Borazjan in Bushehr province to serve a two-year exile sentence.
Mohammad Reza Omidi, along with three other Christian citizens, were arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents at a church ceremony in Rasht on May 14, 2016.
The trial of Mohammad Reza Omidi and three other citizens was held on July 26, 2017, in Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court, and Mr. Omidi was ultimately sentenced to 10 years in prison and 2 years of exile to Borazjan County on charges of acting against national security by promoting Christianity. The Christian convert's sentence was reduced to two years in prison by the appeals court.
This citizen was finally released from Evin Prison on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at the end of his sentence.
