Social Security retirees continue to protest against a 10% salary increase

Social Security retirees continued their protests in several Iranian cities on Wednesday, July 12, against the government's decision to increase non-minimum salaries by 10 percent.

These gatherings were held in Susa, Babol, Kermanshah, Shushtar, and Ahvaz.

Pensioners in Shush spread empty tables in front of the governor's office in protest of their living conditions. In Shushtar, pensioners chanted slogans against Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran: "A lying president, where are the results of your promises?"

Social Security retirees are demanding the cancellation of the 10% increase in non-minimum wage earners' salaries and the implementation of the resolution to increase their salaries by 57%.

Since the decision of Ebrahim Raisi's government to increase the salaries of non-minimum pensioners by 10 percent, protest rallies have been held daily in a number of Iranian cities.
