Protests in major Iranian cities with slogans against the government

Films and reports sent to Voice of America show that in more than ten major Iranian cities, including the capital Tehran, people protested against high prices and the country's problems, chanting harsh slogans against government officials.
On Thursday evening, August 11, angry people in Tehran's Vanak Square chanted, "Tank cannons, the mullah must disappear."
In the city of Karaj, where rallies had been held in recent days, protesters gathered in several locations on Thursday, including Eshtehard.
Demonstrations were also held in the city of Shiraz in southern Iran, attended by a large number of people, and after officers attacked the peaceful gathering of people, they chanted slogans against the clerics.
In the city of Ahvaz, protesters also expressed their dissatisfaction with slogans.
Mashhad, where the protests began in January, also joined the protests on Thursday.
Dissatisfaction with the Iranian government has increased sharply in the past six months and has been repeatedly expressed in protesters' slogans. Among them, they have expressed their dissatisfaction with the country's authorities and reformist political activists with slogans such as "Reza Shah, may your soul rest in peace" or "Reformist, fundamentalist, the whole affair is over."
In recent weeks, the fall in the value of the dollar and economic problems have added to the dissatisfaction.
The value of each US dollar, which was 3,000 Tomans a year ago, has reached 10,000 Tomans.
