The risk of nuclear proliferation in the region increases as Iran's nuclear program progresses.

The European Union reported on the progress of Iran's nuclear program and the risk of nuclear weapons proliferation in the region.

Stephen Clement, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the European Union to the Vienna-based international organizations, called for the implementation of all monitoring and verification measures related to the 1994 agreement and its Additional Protocol, without referring to illegal actions regarding the current situation in the implementation of the JCPOA.

According to IRNA, Stéphane Clement, attending the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Tuesday, claimed that progress in Iran's nuclear program has increased the risk of a nuclear weapons proliferation crisis in the region. He also stated that the European Union remains committed to the JCPOA, blaming Iran for the current situation in the implementation of the JCPOA, saying: "We regret that Iran has not taken the necessary decisions to return to this agreement and has not taken the necessary measures, but instead continues to significantly increase its nuclear program."

Steffen also referred to the political support of EU member states and international diplomatic efforts to resume the full implementation of the JCPOA, and called on all countries to support the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015).
