Some reactions to the execution of Mohsen Shekari

The execution of 23-year-old protester Mohsen Shekari in Tehran yesterday sparked strong reactions.

Following these reactions, Gohar Eshghi, Sattar Beheshti's mother, who is grieving for her son, said: "My son, I am proud of you. You are a symbol of the oppression of the Iranian people, you are revealing the Islamic Republic's naked crime against humanity. I feel the pain in your mother's heart, but you and young people like you gave your lives, but not Iran! Your name will never be erased from Iranian history."

Hossein Ronaghi also wrote on his Twitter account: "The pain of these wounds you inflict on each of us is felt by all of Iran. Its anger engulfs all of the Iranian people. We will not turn a blind eye to executions, the execution of any protester will have serious consequences for you. Taking the life of one human being is taking the lives of all of us! Can you erect a gallows as big as all of us?"

Golshifteh Farahani also protested the execution of Mohsen Shekari and declared: "By executing Mohsen Shekari, you have dug the last shovel into your own grave. The year 1401 is not like the year 1367, dream about it."

Ali Karimi also posted a photo of Mohsen Shekari on his Twitter page along with the following text: "If we remain silent today, tomorrow we will have to use the hashtag 'Don't execute' for the other children of Iran."

Babak Aqeebati, who was in Evin Prison with Mohsen Shekari for about twenty days, wrote on his Instagram page: "Mohsen Shekari was executed today, my brain is exploding. I was in Evin Prison with Mohsen for about twenty days of my detention. Mohsen worked in a cafe and talked about his love for games until the morning. He told me stories about "God of War". He told me about his loneliness. When I was swimming in the last days, he would come and swim with me. If sometimes he got extra food, he would make me feel good, he would make me eat two bites. He would compliment me, he would compliment me a lot. He would say, "You are very stylish, I wish you hadn't complimented me so much. I wish you hadn't put your sleeping place in front of mine the last few nights. I wish you hadn't brought us a can of soda when you came back from interrogation." I wish you hadn't talked so passionately about the types of coffee and how to prepare it. I wish you were alive when I made coffee this morning. I wish I hadn't seen this news, I wish I wasn't so sick. I wish I didn't hate myself so much, I wish..."

Sina Vali-Allah also announced on his Twitter account: "You have not yet sentenced the terrorists with machine guns at the hands of Shahcheragh, how did you kill the young man in 3 weeks with empty hands?"

Other artists in Iran, such as Navid Mohammadzadeh, Ladan Tabatabaei, Taraneh Alidoosti, and many others, reacted to the execution of Mohsen Shekari. Taraneh Alidoosti posted on her Instagram page: “Any international organization that watches this bloodshed and does nothing is a disgrace to humanity. Now sit back and wait for the consequences of this bloodshed.”

The people of Iran also posted on social media, naming those who had been sentenced to death, and declared: "This is the last message, execute the uprising."

Protests following the execution of Mohsen Shekari continue, and the people of Iran have planned a call for Saturday and Sunday so they can defend other loved ones who have been sentenced to death.
