Assassination of two members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran in Iraqi Kurdistan

Two members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran were assassinated in Iraqi Kurdistan by a former member of the party.

According to the Human Rights Organization "Hengaw", at 1 am on Friday, July 6, in the tourist village of "Halsho" in the province of "Qala'dze" in the province of Sulaymaniyah, Iraqi Kurdistan, two members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran named "Logman Aji", known as "Logman Gargouli" and "Adel Qaderi", known as "Sorbaz Mohajer", both from Piranshahr, were assassinated by a person named "Rasool Azarakhsh".

After the investigation, it was determined that after assassinating the aforementioned individuals, Rasoul Azarakhsh immediately went to the border and took refuge with the Islamic Republic security forces present at the “Qala’dze” border. It should be noted that “Rasoul Azarakhsh” from Naqdeh was also a former member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran and returned to Iran six years ago after leaving the party and becoming a member of the Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Rasoul Azarakhsh had recently visited Kurdistan under the pretext of looking for work, and because he knew the assassinated individuals in the past, he arranged a friendly meeting with them in a tourist area and then attempted to assassinate them.

Also, a political activist named Saadi Moradpour, who was a former member of the Democratic Party, was seriously injured.

Officials of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran and Iraq have not yet made any official comments or information regarding this assassination, and this lack of information comes despite the fact that security agents of the Islamic Republic have repeatedly attempted to assassinate Iranian Kurdish political and human rights activists in Iraqi Kurdistan over the past decades.

Since the start of the nationwide protests, many Iranian Kurds have been killed by the security forces of the Islamic Republic's Revolutionary Guard Corps.
