Yesterday morning, the death sentence of "Zarkhatoon Mazarzehi" was carried out.

Zarkhatoon Mazarzahi was born in 1977 in Saravan and lived in Khash County. She was married and had a daughter, and was also the head of the family. In 1996, due to the pressure of poverty, she agreed to tie a package to her stomach and board a bus to Shiraz, while she was unaware of the contents of the package.

On the way from Kerman to Shiraz, the traffic police searched Zarkhatun and several other people and found a package that Zarkhatun was unaware of its contents but had tied to her stomach. On March 14, 1401, the Kerman Revolutionary Court sentenced her to death on charges of possession and transportation of drugs.

Zarkhatoon's family members visited Zarkhatoon for a final visit on Tuesday, November 13, and told her of her poor health. She saw her little grandson for the first and last time. The Mazarzai family announced that they did not even have the financial means to pay for an ambulance to transport her body after the execution, and her friends and acquaintances began to raise money to hold a ceremony for her.

Zarkhatoon was transferred to solitary confinement in Kerman Prison on Monday to prepare for the execution of her death sentence. Her death sentence was carried out while she was unable to afford a lawyer due to financial constraints, and all stages of the trial and handling of her case were conducted without the presence of a lawyer, not even a hired lawyer.
