Suicide of a teenage girl in Dishmok

A 14-year-old female student living in the city of Dishmook in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad Province committed suicide by hanging herself on Sunday, November 1. The Iranian Forensic Medicine Organization has stated that the share of Iranian teenagers in annual suicides is more than 7 percent.

According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, on Sunday, November 2, 2020, a 14-year-old female student living in the city of Dishmok committed suicide by hanging herself and lost her life.

The identity of this student, 14-year-old Rana Sanaei, has been confirmed by HRANA.

A source familiar with the teenage girl's suicide told HRANA: "Rana Sanaei committed suicide by hanging herself at her parents' house in Dishmook on Sunday. After the family learned of their daughter's act, they notified the emergency services and sent a helicopter to send her to the hospital in Dishmook, but she died after being transferred to the hospital. She was finally buried in her hometown this morning."

After being hospitalized, the family of the teenage girl said that their daughter committed suicide because she did not have a smartphone and could not attend online classes, but local sources claimed that the issue of her forced marriage was at issue; however, HRANA is still unable to independently confirm any of these claims.

Dishmok is a city in Kohgiluyeh County, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, located in southwestern Iran.

The Forensic Medicine Organization has stated that the share of Iranian teenagers in annual suicides is more than 7%.
