Bucharest Prosecutor's Office Announces Preliminary Results of Investigation into Judge Mansouri's Death

Initial results of the investigation into the death of Gholamreza Mansouri in Romania indicate that he died from a collision with a hard object.
On Tuesday, July 25, Romanian media published a forensic report published by the Bucharest Court's Public Prosecutor's Office, stating that the Iranian judge died from severe injuries caused by a collision with a hard object, possibly due to a fall.
The prosecutor's office also announced that it has obtained images from the hotel cameras where Gholamreza Mansouri was staying, which were recorded from the time of the incident.
On the other hand, Radio Farda, citing sources close to the investigation, wrote that Mr. Mansouri had paid the hotel bill and packed his suitcase, and therefore appeared to be ready to leave the hotel.
These sources also said that a toxicology test was conducted on Mansouri to investigate the possibility of the presence of such substances in his body.
Judge Gholamreza Mansouri, the executive judge of Lavasanat County, was mentioned in the court hearing the charges against the former executive deputy of the Judiciary as a fugitive defendant who fled the country after receiving a bribe of 500,000 euros.
Romanian police arrested him at the request of Iranian police, but released him on parole for a month.
On the other hand, international organizations defending the rights of journalists have filed complaints against him due to the unjustified arrests and pressure and threats against journalists and their families, and have called on the Romanian government to arrest him.
Gholamreza Mansouri's body was found on Sunday, June 20, in a hotel in Romania where he had been staying for 10 days.
Following his death, speculation arose inside and outside Iran that he had committed suicide or been murdered.
According to the prosecutor's office, a criminal investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of Gholamreza Mansouri's death.
