The official prices of four basic commodities were increased by order of the Raisi government.

Despite a significant increase in the prices of basic goods from 21 to 64 percent over the past year, the Iranian government has officially increased the prices of four basic goods, including chicken, eggs, oil, and dairy products and their sub-products, this time.

According to ISNA on Thursday, May 12, according to the announcement of the country's market regulation headquarters, the price of each kilogram of chicken will be 59,800 tomans and each kilogram of eggs will be 39,800 tomans.

This price increase comes at a time when the price of fresh chicken increased by at least 21 percent during the past solar year to 30,500 Tomans per kilogram, and the price of eggs increased by 53 percent to about 25,000 Tomans per kilogram.

According to this report, in the official increase in the price of basic goods, the price of 810 grams of liquid oil will reach 63,000 Tomans, and in dairy products, the price of 900 grams of nylon milk will be 15,000 Tomans, a one-liter bottle of low-fat pasteurized milk will be 18,000 Tomans, a 2.5-kilogram low-fat yogurt will be 49,800 Tomans, and a 400-gram medium-fat cheese will be 37,000 Tomans.

This is while the dairy group has also witnessed a price increase of between 24 and 64 percent in the past year ending in Farvardin this year, including pasteurized low-fat milk, which had reached 12,300 tomans and has now been announced at 18,000 tomans.

The government claims that, following the elimination of preferential currency and the increase in cash subsidies deposited into the accounts of some tithes, it wants to "reform the subsidy payment system" and thereby "prevent the massive corruption and abuse committed by many importers."

However, following the gradual elimination of subsidies given to importers of essential goods, the prices of many basic goods increased significantly, including the price of flour, which increased 13-fold in one week.

Yesterday, some media outlets in Iran even reported that the price of chicken had reached 64,000 tomans per kilogram and the price of eggs had reached 98,000 tomans per kilogram.

The wave of concern in society over the sharp rise in prices even led Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the speaker of the parliament, who is himself a government official, to acknowledge to the government of Ebrahim Raisi that "the people are extremely upset."

However, a day after this critical admission, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, called the government's economic policies "important" and supported them.

The rising inflation rate and the continuous and unbridled increase in the prices of various goods and services in Iran have led to widespread protest gatherings in various sectors, including teachers, workers, and farmers.

At the same time, according to unofficial reports that cannot be independently verified due to internet disruptions, several cities in Khuzestan province have been the scene of popular protests in recent nights, including over rising prices and the worsening living conditions of the people.
