Leader of the Islamic Republic declares travel to Antalya forbidden for Iranians

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, declared it forbidden for Iranians to travel to the city of Antalya in Türkiye and called for the prevention of propaganda about such trips.

According to a report in the Javan newspaper on Monday, May 4, Ayatollah Khamenei described Antalya in his classroom yesterday as a city where "debauchery and immorality are practiced and make travel invalid."

According to a report by this newspaper affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, the Leader of the Islamic Republic expressed hope that cultural officials and the parliament would pass laws to prevent the promotion of "forbidden travels."

In its report, the Javan newspaper criticized the annual travel of four million Iranians to Turkey and Thailand, writing: "Perhaps the government, out of respect for individual freedoms, has not prevented the ban on travel to tourist centers that are known for corruption, but at least it can prevent direct tours from Iran to these countries or at least prevent widespread advertising of travel tours to these countries."

Babak Nematpour, a tour guide for Irantour and Farvardin Tourism, said in April this year that the number of Iranian tourists who traveled to Antalya during Nowruz last year was about 80,000, but this year, due to insecurity in Turkey, this number reached 40,000.

The city of Antalya is considered one of the tourist attractions for Iranian tourists.
