Earthquake in western Kermanshah leaves more than 150 injured

Following a 5.9 magnitude earthquake in Taze Abad, a district of Salas Babajani County, the Governor of Kermanshah announced that more than 150 people were injured.
Iranian domestic news agencies reported on Sunday, July 21, quoting Houshang Bazvand, the governor of Kermanshah, that according to the latest statistics provided on Sunday evening, 156 people were injured in the earthquake and a large number of villages were destroyed.
According to Tasnim News Agency, the governor of Kermanshah stated that a crisis management meeting had been held in Salas Babajani and that dozens of people had also been injured in Javanrud.
The director of the Kermanshah Provincial Red Crescent also told IRNA that 16 relief teams consisting of 150 rescuers were sent to the earthquake-stricken city of Taze Abad.
The head of the emergency organization also said that the earthquake caused a landslide on the east-west Javanroud and Salas Babajani roads.
In November of last year, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Kermanshah province, including the Azgoleh district and 32 kilometers from Sar-e-Pul-e-Zahab city in the west of the province, killing 620 people and injuring more than 12,000.
