Saeed Mortazavi passed away

Soheila Kh. FCNN News Agency: Saeed Mortazavi managed to leave the country despite his case being pending in the courts and having a private plaintiff in the social security case.
According to FCNN, this legal departure of a defendant from the country has caused concerns in Iran, and there are fears that this criminal will suffer the same fate as other government corrupt officials who conduct business abroad.
Ibrahim, a political analyst who asked not to be named because he lives in Iran, said in an interview with FCNN: "Mortazavi left the country under the pretext of attending the Arbaeen ceremony and it is not known where he will travel after Iraq. Of course, according to his lawyer, he was legally allowed to leave the country, while he is still a defendant in the law and must appear in court."
He noted: The legal restrictions on travel abroad for defendants are so strict that men are banned from leaving the country if their wives ask for it and they are unable to pay the dowry. Given this situation, it is very questionable that someone like Saeed Mortazavi is not banned from leaving.
According to this compatriot, with the public announcement of Mortazavi's departure from Iran and his trip to Iraq, this question has arisen in the minds of many and there is no legal answer to it. For this reason, he predicts that there will be no return.
Of course, he emphasizes that many analysts are looking forward to seeing what measures Mortazavi's accomplices in the Islamic Republic regime will devise to save themselves from the threats of this defendant.
According to this political analyst, some opponents of the verdicts issued in these cases claim that threatening Mortazavi's colleagues' officials was the key to his salvation.
He added: "At the end of one of the court sessions, this defendant had announced to the judge that he had taken a copy of all the documents and records related to his work out of the country. He had indirectly said that if my path to salvation was blocked, all my accomplices would be disgraced. And we saw that this threat led to his acquittal in the Kahrizak case and his complicity in the murders. In addition, he was easily saved from the charge of embezzlement in the social security case and the transfer of public property of social security insured workers to Babak Zanjani."
According to FCNN, Mortazavi has survived two of his legal cases so far. The courts acquitted him in the Kahrizak case.
The ruling in the social security case is still preliminary and subject to appeal. The plaintiffs in this case, a group of insured workers, have requested this review of the ruling.
These workers claim that the judge could have considered his actions as “embezzlement” in addition to criminalizing them. In that case, Saeed Mortazavi would have been sentenced to forfeiture of property, but in the first instance court, he was sentenced to 70 and 65 lashes for illegal possession and neglect of duty.
A verdict has not yet been issued for Mortazavi's third case.
