The Revolutionary Guards have "confiscated" dozens of houses and shops in Syria's Deir Ezzor

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced on Tuesday, April 23, that the Revolutionary Guard Corps had confiscated dozens of houses and shops in Deir Ezzor province and handed them over to the militia forces it supports.

At the same time, the official Turkish news agency, Anadolu, also reported that the Revolutionary Guards have confiscated 60 houses belonging to residents of Deir Ezzor and the Albukamal region in recent days.

These areas are located in eastern Syria and south of the Raqqa region. It was recently reported that Russian military forces have entered the Raqqa region and "expelled" Iranian forces and their supported militias from the oil areas.

It is not clear exactly where the expelled Iranian forces and the militias it supports, especially the Fatemiyoun Division, which was present in Raqqa, have relocated.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that Iranian military forces have confiscated 10 houses and 30 shops in the Deir Ezzor region in recent days, under the pretext that these properties belong to "opponents of the Bashar al-Assad regime" and have given them to forces they support.

The report says that some confiscated shops are also being rented out to provide money to the militants.

Deir Ezzor is a region that Bashar al-Assad's forces, with the help of Iran and Russia, recaptured from ISIS forces in November 2017, and many of its residents have fled these areas; an issue that the Anadolu Agency also mentioned, saying that the IRGC has confiscated the homes of war refugees.

"The Assad regime has granted Syrian citizenship to some foreign terrorists who fight in support of the regime, paving the way for the confiscation of Syrian citizens' homes in their favor," Anadolu said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported that the "Abul Fadl al-Abbas" group, supported by the Revolutionary Guards, also confiscated a gas station in the city of al-Mayadeen in Deir Ezzor province on March 13, about 10 days ago.

Deir Ezzor is located in eastern Syria, near the Iraqi border.

The Syrian civil war, which began 10 years ago with the bloody crackdown on peaceful protests against the government of Bashar al-Assad, has continued to this day. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition group, estimates that more than 388,000 people have been killed in the conflict, including about 117,000 civilians.

Bashar al-Assad has held power in Syria since 2000, following the death of his father, Hafez al-Assad.

He sought help from Russia and Iran during the 10-year civil war, while Turkey and Saudi Arabia supported the rebels. Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2254, an international roadmap for peace in Syria, which has never been implemented.
