The number of coronavirus victims in Iran has reached ten thousand.

The daily death toll from COVID-19 in Iran has reached 133, the highest since mid-April. According to official statistics from the Ministry of Health, the number of coronavirus infections is not decreasing in at least eight provinces.
In his latest daily press conference, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health presented statistics on developments related to the spread of the coronavirus in Iran as of noon on Wednesday, June 24.
According to Sima Sadat Lari, in the 24 hours leading up to noon on Wednesday, 2,531 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in Iran, bringing the total number of infected people to 212,501.
Lari announced the number of coronavirus victims in the past 24 hours at 133. This brings the total number of people who have died from the coronavirus in Iran since the official confirmation of the outbreak on the last day of February to 9,996.
Increase in the number of victims like in the middle of April
The lowest daily death toll from the coronavirus in the past four months was 34 on June 25. The number of victims has been in triple digits since the past ten days, except for one day.
Since about mid-April, the number of deaths related to COVID-19 has rarely exceeded 130 per day.
According to official statistics from the Ministry of Health, over the past two days, the number of newly identified cases has increased by 86 and the number of deaths has increased by 12.
Sima Sadat Lari said in a press conference on Wednesday: "In the provinces of Khuzestan, Kurdistan, Hormozgan, Bushehr, and some areas of Fars, Lorestan, Kermanshah, and Golestan provinces, we have not seen a decrease in the number of COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations."
Incomplete statistics on the increase in infections in the provinces
According to evidence, apart from these provinces, there are other regions and cities where the infection rate is increasing, and statements by local officials confirm this.
One of these areas is Tehran province. Alireza Zali, commander of the coronavirus response headquarters in Tehran, said on Monday that the coronavirus infection rate in the capital is increasing “slightly.”
Reza Jalili Khoshnood, head of Tajrish Martyrs' Hospital and a member of the coronavirus response headquarters in Tehran, also told ISNA news agency on July 24 that "the number of patients admitted and hospitalized with coronavirus" at this hospital has increased by about 50 percent since the beginning of June.
The governor of South Khorasan recently said that the number of coronavirus cases in the province has been increasing for about 15 days. Similar news is also being heard from some areas in other provinces, including Kerman, Khorasan Razavi, Qazvin, Kohkiluyeh, and Boyer Ahmad.
Field reports and statements by local officials show that the number of provinces where the spread of the coronavirus and COVID-19 cases is increasing, at least in some of them, is greater than the number announced by the Ministry of Health spokesperson.
