Civil activist Saba Kord Afshari sentenced to 24 years in prison

The defense lawyer for Saba Kordafshari, a civil rights activist who is in detention, announced that his client has been sentenced to a total of 24 years in prison.
Hossein Taj wrote in a message on Twitter on Tuesday, September 25, that the Revolutionary Court had sentenced Ms. Kord Afshari to 15 years in prison on charges of encouraging corruption and prostitution, to 7 years and 6 months in prison on charges of gathering and colluding with the intent to commit a crime against national security, and to 1 year and 6 months in prison on charges of propaganda activities against the system.
He also wrote that he was protesting this decision and hoped it would be changed, announcing that other social exclusions had also been issued against Ms. Kord Afshari.
Saba Kord Afshari, who is also a protester against compulsory hijab, was arrested during the protests in August last year, sentenced to prison, and released in February last year, but was arrested again in June this year.
Raheleh Ahmadi, the mother of Ms. Kord Afshari, was arrested last July after she announced that her daughter was being pressured into making a forced confession and giving a television interview.
The US State Department has repeatedly condemned the Islamic Republic regime's violent actions against the Iranian people under various pretexts, including attacks on the freedom to choose the type of clothing, as well as the repeated and persistent violations of the rights of Iranian citizens by agents of the regime.
