Farhad Meysami also stopped taking his medication in protest of his violent transfer to the prison infirmary.

A source familiar with the situation of imprisoned civil rights activist Farhad Meysami, who has been on a hunger strike since August 1, told the Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that on October 25, he was transferred “violently and against his will” from Ward 4 to the Evin Prison infirmary. According to the source, Mr. Meysami has even stopped taking his medication in protest of this treatment, which was accompanied by force and violence.

This informed source told the Campaign : Farhad is suffering from colitis, but since yesterday, when he was transferred to the prison health center, he has stopped taking this medicine and the water that he drank with these pills. Earlier, Farhad Meysami’s mother had said in an interview with the Campaign that she had given Farhad’s pills to Evin Prison officials so that they could be given to him for consumption.

Expressing concern about Farhad Meysami's condition, the source told the campaign : " With his transfer to the prison health center, it is difficult to get news about him, and we are extremely worried about him. "

Farhad Meysami, a civil rights activist, has been on a hunger strike since August 1, a day after his arrest, and is experiencing severe low blood pressure and weakness. He had announced that he was ready to be transferred to the hospital without handcuffs, shackles, and prison clothes. However, on September 17, after his condition deteriorated, prison officials intended to transfer him with handcuffs, shackles, and prison clothes, but he opposed it and the transfer did not take place.

Sediqeh Pishnamaz, the prisoner's mother, had previously said in an interview with the campaign : "After all, Farhad is not a dangerous prisoner who wants to escape. He is a civil activist. Why should he be transferred to the hospital like this?"

In a message he sent from Evin Prison, Mr. Meysami announced that he would continue his hunger strike until "the unconditional release of dear Reza Khandan and the lifting of the summons, interrogation, and retrial of his dear sister, as well as Ms. Jila Makondi and Mr. Davoud Farhadpour."

Mohammad Moghimi, Farhad Meysami’s chosen lawyer, also wrote on his Instagram on April 16 that despite Farhad Meysami’s request to accept his case, the judiciary has not yet accepted his representation . The lawyer wrote on his Instagram : I have been prevented from announcing my representation in order to take over his representation. This is while the prevention of having a chosen lawyer, according to the note of Article 48 of the Criminal Procedure Code, is limited to the preliminary investigation stage and his case has passed this stage.”

Farhad Meysami, 48, is a civil activist and physician. In the 1970s and 1980s, he published textbooks and educational books for the entrance exam at Ayandesazan Publishing House, and in recent years, as a civil activist, he has participated in many sit-ins and protest rallies against prisoners' rights and the mandatory hijab.

Mr. Meysami was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents on August 30. During a search of his home, Ministry of Intelligence agents found a number of badges stating opposition to compulsory hijab and seized them as evidence of the crime. She has been charged by the Seventh Branch of the Evin Prison Prosecution with three charges: gathering and colluding with the intention of disrupting the country’s security by inciting women to appear on the streets with their heads uncovered, propaganda against the system ,” and insulting the hijab as one of the essential sanctities of Islam. However, the specifics of these three charges are not clear.
