Statistics Center: The country's employed population has decreased by 1.2 million people

The Statistical Center of Iran says that the employed population aged 15 and over this summer was 23,542,000, a decrease of approximately 1,210,000 compared to the same season last year.
Despite the significant decline in the country's employed population, the unemployment rate in Iran not only has not increased, but has also dropped by 1 percentage point to 9.5 percent.
The Parliamentary Research Center had previously reported that a large number of job seekers had given up their job search due to lack of success in finding a job.
Therefore, despite the country's working population having fallen sharply, the unemployment rate, which is a function of the number of active people, has decreased.
The Statistical Center of Iran also says that the economic participation rate in the summer of this year has decreased by 3.2 percent compared to the same season last year.
The report, published on the government agency's website on Wednesday, says that in the summer of 2019, 41.8 percent of the population aged 15 and over were economically active, meaning they were in the group of employed or unemployed people looking for work.
Thus, more than 58 percent of Iran's working-age population is not looking for work.
The unemployment rate for youth aged 15 to 24 indicates that 23.1 percent of this age group were unemployed in the summer of 2019. A study of the unemployment rate for the 18 to 35 age group also shows that 16.9 percent of the active population in this age group were unemployed.
