According to the latest report from the consulting firm IHS Markit, the world's military budgets have seen an unprecedented increase in 2018. NATO's military budget has increased sharply, and Iran's military spending has surpassed that of Israel and Canada.

According to a report by the consulting services company IHS Markit, the military budget of countries around the world increased in 2018 to an unprecedented level compared to the previous 10 years.

According to the report, published by the AFP news agency, the military budget of countries around the world has increased by 4.9 percent this year to 1.78 trillion dollars. The highest budget increase, which amounts to 5.8 percent, can be seen in the NATO defense organization, which owes most to the increase in US military spending.

According to the report, in 2018, NATO member countries' defense spending amounted to $989 billion. This spending will exceed $1 trillion in 2019.

“NATO members have begun to increase their defense budgets after going through a difficult financial phase due to increasing crises,” says Fenella McGarity of IHS Markit.

In the table of increases in world military budgets in 2018, the first place belongs to the United States with 702 billion and 500 million dollars. China is next with 207 billion and 600 million dollars. Germany is also in 9th place and its military budget amounts to 44 billion and 500 million dollars.

According to the report, Saudi Arabia's defense spending in particular has increased significantly. The country ranks fifth on the list with a budget of $56 billion.

Iran's position
