Employees of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Karaj held a protest rally for the fifth day.

Employees of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Karaj held a protest rally for the fifth consecutive day to protest against unpaid salaries and the hospital's lack of ownership.

According to reports, the hospital staff, who also protested on Wednesday, October 11, have not received their salaries for more than eleven months.

According to ISNA, Ghadir Mahdavi Kalashami, a member of the Karaj City Council who visited the hospital, said in the council meeting: "The staff had even resorted to selling their kidneys due to economic pressures resulting from not receiving their salaries for several months, and they were extremely complaining about not being able to pay their house rent or their children's university tuition for several consecutive months."

A member of the hospital's labor council also told ISNA that five hundred staff members have arrears in their salaries and that Alborz provincial officials have made no effort to resolve their problems, which is why these protest rallies are still being held.

Union rallies to protest livelihood problems and unpaid wages have increased in recent years, following the rise of economic problems in Iran.

Over the past year, teachers, nurses, retirees, truck drivers, and employees of large companies, including Khuzestan Steel, Railway Establishments, Haft Tapeh Sugarcane, and some other guilds, have repeatedly rallied and demanded improvements to their living conditions.
