Workers in Islamshahr and Zanjan gathered to protest against non-payment of salaries

Following the strike of Damghan Railway Traverse Company workers, workers of the Islamshahr and Zanjan railways also gathered because they had not received their salaries and benefits for several months.

According to reports on news websites and images published on social media, workers on the Islamshahr railway have gone on strike because they have not received their salaries for four months.

At the same time, reports have also been published of a rally by Zanjan railway workers in front of the Zanjan governorate. The workers gathered to protest the non-payment of their four months' salary and 15 months of insurance.

It was previously reported that workers of the Northeast Damghan Railway (Traverse Company), who have not yet received their several months of arrears of salaries and seven months of insurance, have also gone on strike.

This is the second protest and strike by workers of the Northeast Damghan Railway (Traverse Company). In March 2017, they had also gathered in front of the governor's office and the office of the Friday Imam of Damghan to protest against the non-payment of salaries and insurance premiums for several months.

In recent months, there have been one or more protest rallies by workers almost every day.

Some reports indicate that in the past year, around six thousand labor rallies have been held, mostly in protest of unpaid salaries for several months, mass layoffs, uncertainty following the transfer of factories to the private sector, and low wages.
