Workers of Karaj's "Alborz Mall Project" gathered in front of Saman Bank in Tehran

A group of workers from the "Alborz Mall" project in Karaj held a protest rally in front of the Saman Bank headquarters in Tehran.

The Telegram channel of the Free Workers Union reported on Monday, June 4, that a group of workers from the Alborz Mall project in Karaj gathered in front of the Saman Bank headquarters on Vali Asr Street in Tehran on Sunday, June 3, to protest their job and livelihood uncertainty.

Protesting workers in this rally demanded that Saman Bank pay their overdue salaries for more than a year.

According to one of the protesting workers, the Alborz Mall project is the first major commercial project in Alborz Hesarak province, and Saman Bank is also a major shareholder of this project. Due to the high debt of the project to Saman Bank, this project was completely transferred to Saman Bank on March 2, 2018.

Another project staff and engineer said that Saman Bank security guards treated the workers in this gathering with inappropriate and unethical behavior, and that Saman Bank's legal department is not taking any action in response to this volume of protests, and is only making empty promises and has no plan to pay the project staff.

According to the protesters, the project's personnel and workers have been demanding arrears of salaries from the previous company for a year and a half, and according to the law, Saman Bank must be responsible for these debts, but so far it has not taken any action to collect these people's claims.
