Shortage of at least 270 ambulances in Tehran

Peyman Sabrian, head of Tehran's emergency department, said about safety and emergency standards in Tehran: "The city of Tehran, including the floating population and surrounding cities, has a population of about 14 million people, and based on global standards, we need one ambulance for every 20,000 people, meaning we should have about 500 ambulances in Tehran, while the number of emergency ambulances in Tehran is only 230, some of which are worn out and need to be replaced or renovated."
He said: "According to the standards, there should be one active air rescue helicopter for every one million people, but currently, instead of 14, we only have two helicopters. Also, the number of emergency motor lances should be between 400 and 500, but currently, this number is about 250 motor ambulances."
