A group of Ahvaz urban train employees gathered in front of the city's municipality.
On Wednesday, July 9, a group of Ahvaz urban train employees gathered in front of the city's municipality for the eleventh day to protest their 16 months of wage arrears and the 2018 Eid holiday.
According to these workers, the employer has so far only deposited 13 million tomans as severance pay into the workers' accounts, and last year, only six months of salaries were paid to the workers, which were the back wages for 2017.
This is not the first time that Ahvaz urban train employees have held a protest rally; last year, these workers also gathered several times to protest their wage arrears.
Union and labor protests in Iran have increased in recent months with rising inflation and high prices, and some of these protests have been met with security crackdowns by the Iranian government.
The United States has repeatedly condemned institutionalized financial corruption among members of Iran's ruling class, the plunder of the country's God-given assets by the leaders of the Islamic Republic regime, and the foreign adventures of the Iranian regime, and has considered them to be among the main factors behind Iran's economic and financial problems.
