8,500 child laborers identified in Iran in first six months of this year

An official in the Iranian Welfare Organization announced that in the first six months of 2018, nearly 8,500 working and street children were identified in Iran.
According to Mehr, Habibollah Masoud Faridi said that in the first six months of this year, these children were referred to "support centers" and accepted there.
The deputy head of social affairs at the Iranian Welfare Organization added that 50 percent of child laborers are "non-Iranian nationals," and this number reaches 70 percent in cities like Tehran.
Previously, Nahid Tajeddin, a member of the Social Commission of the 10th Parliament, had said that, according to statistics, the number of child laborers in Iran is between 3 and 7 million.
