Serious warning from "Christian Activists for a Free Iran" about livelihood pressure and humanitarian crisis

The organization "Christian Activists for a Free Iran" seriously warned about the humanitarian crisis in Iran, emphasizing the worsening shortage of medicine and food and the need for urgent global action.

Following the worsening living and medical conditions in Iran, Christian Activists for a Free Iran have issued a statement warning of what they call a "growing humanitarian crisis" in the country and calling for an immediate response from the international community.

The statement, released on April 21, paints a disturbing picture of the living conditions of the Iranian people, which, according to its authors, are accompanied by a growing shortage of vital medicines, medical equipment, food and other basic necessities. The report emphasizes that this situation directly threatens the lives of the sick, the elderly, children and other vulnerable groups.

This organization, which consists of church leaders, pastors, and Christian activists from different countries, rejects narratives that attribute the current situation solely to external pressures, and clarifies: "A significant part of today's pressure on the Iranian people is a direct result of the government's crisis-causing, war-mongering, and tension-inducing policies."

The statement goes on to emphasize that such policies are not pursued in the public interest, but rather with the aim of preserving the power structure, containing domestic discontent, and using it as a tool in international equations. Describing the current situation as “shocking,” the authors accuse the government of exploiting the suffering of citizens as a tool for political pressure and effectively turning ordinary people into “human shields.”

Another part of the statement referred to reports that some government institutions, including structures affiliated with the military, were confiscating humanitarian aid intended for civilians and diverting it to the black market or to allied groups abroad. These allegations have previously been reported by some international organizations and the media, raising concerns about the transparency of aid distribution.

The organization has also made a series of practical requests to international institutions, churches, and governments, including the creation of safe routes for the delivery of medicine and medical equipment, the provision of food items to families in need, and a clear distinction between the Iranian people and the governing structure in international policymaking.

The international community has also been called upon to prevent political exploitation of this crisis and to clearly emphasize the Iranian government's responsibility in the formation and continuation of the current situation.

The final part of the statement criticizes what it calls the “double standards” of some international institutions. The authors deplore the silence in the face of the suffering of the Iranian people and emphasize that humanitarian principles should not be selective, political, or dependent on geographical considerations.

This Christian group, citing its moral and faith responsibility, has called on the international community to stand with the Iranian people at this critical juncture, instead of siding with the power structures; a people who, they say, need support, justice, and global solidarity more than ever.
