Iran announces purchase of three million doses of Chinese vaccine "of uncertain safety"

Alireza Raisi, spokesman for the National Coronavirus Task Force, announced the purchase of three million Chinese coronavirus vaccines, which he said was a condition of the vaccine sellers that the company make no commitments regarding the vaccine's side effects or delivery time.

 

According to the Health Ministry official, Iran has so far received one million doses of the Chinese vaccine donated by the Chinese Red Cross, and another three million doses of the Chinese vaccine will arrive in the country next week.

Alireza Raisi emphasized that the safety of the Chinese vaccine is unknown and may only provide immunity for 8 months to a year.

So far, 100 million people in Chile, Brazil, and Türkiye have received at least one dose of the Chinese vaccine.

According to statistics published so far, the number of people in Iran who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus pandemic is less than one percent of the country's population.
