The UK Charity Commission announced on Wednesday, May 9, that it had dismissed the members of the board of trustees of the charity "Islamic Centre of England", affiliated with Ali Khamenei's office.
The commission also said it appointed an interim director last week to oversee the center's charitable activities.
Reports indicate that the investigation and review of the situation of the "Islamic Centre of England" began in 2022. The investigation was launched due to concerns about the way the centre was run and following a warning from the Charity Commission.
The Charity Commission says that the board of trustees of the Islamic Centre of England failed to properly fulfill their legal duties and responsibilities and failed to safeguard and safeguard its assets.
Meanwhile, Tom Tugnat, the British Home Secretary's Undersecretary for Security, has welcomed the Charity Commission's move to remove members of the board of trustees of the Islamic Centre of England charity.
The British Deputy Home Secretary said: "In recent months, I have often warned about the threat that Iran poses to us in the UK."
Tom Tugnat added: "The actions of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its agents have endangered the lives of citizens in our country."
The British Home Office official emphasized in a video message on Twitter that, according to reports, the director of the center will be appointed by the Leader of the Islamic Republic.
During the recent protests, there were calls to close the Islamic Centre of England.
This center, also known as the Ali Khamenei Office, holds various religious ceremonies for British Shiites.
Hashem Mousavi works at this center as the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Republic.
