Statement by the Iranian Armed Forces
Due to the widespread public protests across Iran, people have repeatedly asked the Islamic Republic's army for support. The army's armed forces have also recently issued a statement expressing their support for the people.
During Mahsa Amini's 40th birthday ceremony, videos of the army supporting and sheltering people went viral on social media, showing that the Islamic Republic's army was on the side of the people, but this support was not officially announced.
The Iranian armed forces issued a collective statement in a video called "Safnama".
The text of this statement is as follows:
Salute to the heroic nation of Iran and the martyrs of the path of freedom. The brave and fighting nation of Iran, in these dark and sad days, the hearts of each of us are filled with anger and pain, and undoubtedly the cause of the current situation is the brutal regime and the corrupt and anti-Iranian leaders who rule it. The hope of any reform and improvement of the situation within the current framework has become impossible, and undoubtedly the continuation of this situation will result in nothing but more poverty, misery, torture, murder and looting, and the dismemberment of our beloved homeland.
During this time, the regime has not only ignored the protests and demands for people's rights and has not recognized them except in words. Instead, with elaborate and repetitive scenarios, it has considered all popular movements and outcry to be riots and related to foreign interests, and has resorted to arresting and suppressing the brutal and naked killing of women, men, and children.
Due to the unprecedented decline in the level of repressive forces, it has employed mercenaries from Hezbollah's Popular Mobilization Forces and other terrorists, and at the same time has resorted to heinous acts, such as the Evin fire incident and the assassination in Shahcheragh, in order to divert public opinion.
We, a group of devoted sons of the nation and homeland working in the Iranian Armed Forces, from all military and intelligence organizations, who are witnessing the chaotic and bloody situation of the country and our beloved compatriots, have taken decisive and firm steps, based on our human honor and our military oath, to protect and safeguard the territorial integrity, lives, property, and honor of Iran and Iranians.
While declaring our full and firm support and solidarity with the fighting nation of Iran, regardless of any partisan, political, ethnic, racial orientation or affiliation with unpatriotic factors or elements, and not with the motive of gaining wealth and power, but rather in order to create greater and comprehensive jihad and cohesion among the patriotic and dutiful armed forces with honor and to end the current deplorable situation, to overcome the integrity of the Islamic Republic, and to bring the Iranian people's revolution to fruition as quickly as possible with the least material and moral cost, we have taken steps to form command cells at the level of all units under our command.
Under the name "Safnama" - the Supreme Command Headquarters of the People's Armed Forces of Iran - and until a unified and popular government is established through the free and direct will and vote of the people, and we return to our barracks and headquarters, we will be present on the scene alongside the nation.
At this critical juncture, it is important and vital to be free from filth and stand on the right side of history. And the realization of the national victory that is so close at hand will depend on the unity and trust of you, the guardians of blessings, in us, the children and servants of the nation. So join our ranks and wait for the announcement number one of the Sefnama in the coming hours.
