Rajai Shahr Prison, Karaj; Increase in the number of prisoners transferred to solitary confinement for execution

HRANA News Agency – Three more prisoners in Rajai Shahr Prison, Karaj, were transferred to solitary confinement cells to carry out their death sentences on Monday, September 4. Including these individuals, the number of prisoners who have been transferred to solitary confinement cells in Rajai Shahr Prison, Karaj, to carry out their death sentences has increased to 11.
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Monday, September 14, 2022, three more prisoners in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj were transferred to solitary confinement cells in the prison.
These prisoners have been transferred to solitary confinement to carry out their death sentences.
Also, on Wednesday, September 29, 1402, eight prisoners in Rajai Shahr Prison, Karaj, were transferred to solitary confinement. Including these individuals, the number of prisoners who have been transferred to solitary confinement in Rajai Shahr Prison, Karaj, for execution has increased to 11.
This is despite the fact that today, Tuesday, September 5, a number of families and relatives of prisoners sentenced to death held a protest rally in front of the Karaj Revolutionary Court building, holding placards reading "Do not execute," demanding a halt to the execution of their loved ones.
There is no information available about the charges against these prisoners, for which they have previously been sentenced to death by judicial authorities; however, it is worth noting that Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj is where those accused of crimes including murder and armed robbery are held.
Further details of this incident, including the identities of the prisoners mentioned, are still being investigated by HRANA.
According to the annual report of the Center for Statistics, Publications and Works of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, at least 299 citizens were executed and 85 others were sentenced to death between January 1, 2021 and December 20, 2021. Among those executed, four child criminals were executed.
According to the same report, more than 88 percent of executions carried out in Iran are not reported by the government or judicial institutions, which human rights organizations call "secret" executions.
