Shahroz Sokhanvari was arrested in 2010 on charges of being involved in the "international human trafficking" case and returned to Iran from Malaysia. According to the judiciary, the defendant was arrested in Malaysia with the coordination of Interpol and transferred to Iran.

The indictment against Sokhanvari was issued based on confessions and obscene and vulgar videos made from his mobile phone. According to the Meezan News Agency, Shahroz Sokhanvari, known as Alex, is the senior manager of a branch of an international women and girls trafficking network in Dubai, which operated under Alex's supervision and direction.
This international network had such great influence that it was able to obtain invitations and visas to Malaysia within 24 hours.
The judiciary sentenced five of the defendants in the case to 15 years in prison and sentenced the second defendant, along with Shahroz Sokhanvari, to death. Sokhanvari, along with seven other defendants who were sentenced to death, were transferred to solitary confinement in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj on May 17 to carry out the death sentence.
