Iranian human rights activist Ali Ajami dies in US

Ali Ajami, an Iranian human rights activist, has died in the United States. He was 37 years old.
According to accounts published on social media, Mr. Ajami's body was found in a lake in Houston, Texas, on the morning of Wednesday, May 7.
The cause of his death has not yet been announced.
Mr. Ajami, a law student, was arrested by security agents in his father's house in a village near Sabzevar in February 2009.
He was the editor of a student magazine and was sentenced to two years in prison after being arrested on charges of propaganda and collusion against the regime and acting against national security.
He left Iran shortly after his prison term ended. Mr. Ajami, who was 37 years old at the time of his death, had been active in the field of human rights in recent years and collaborated with media outlets such as the HRANA news agency.
