White House National Security Advisor: President Trump has made it clear that he will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon
The White House National Security Advisor announced that President Trump, by announcing his position on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, has declared that he will not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.
Speaking at the Atlantic Council think tank in Washington, DC on Tuesday night, February 12, local time, Robert O'Brien said in response to a reporter's question about Iran's failure to adhere to its commitments in the nuclear deal that President Trump has made his position on Iran's nuclear program very clear and has said that Iran will not obtain a nuclear weapon as long as I am in office.
President Trump's national security adviser also said that the US President has entrusted him with the task of returning Americans held hostage in other countries, including Iran, and that he is using all the country's resources to return Americans to the arms of their families.
Robert O'Brien stated that he was very pleased with the return of Zhiyu Wang, an American student imprisoned in Iran, and said that he is working to ensure that all Americans imprisoned in Iran return to their families in the United States.
He also spoke about the situation of the coronavirus outbreak, stating that the situation is very serious and difficult, and that the United States has offered the Chinese government the use of American experts and doctors, but they have not yet accepted.
He emphasized: "We still do not have any accurate and correct information about the origin and spread of the virus."
The White House official further expressed hope that US-North Korea talks on North Korea's denuclearization and the lifting of sanctions will resume.
According to him, the previous two rounds of talks were very successful because they reduced tensions between the two countries, adding that he hopes that talks will resume with the North Korean leader's commitment to denuclearization.
