White House's response to Iran's lack of readiness to negotiate with the US

The Islamic Republic has rejected a European invitation to hold a meeting on the nuclear deal with the US. The White House has called Iran's negative response to the meeting "disappointing" and has expressed its readiness to negotiate.

The Islamic Republic's negative response to the invitation of Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign policy coordinator, to hold a meeting to discuss the JCPOA has prompted a reaction from the White House.

Reuters, publishing a report on Iran's negative response, wrote that the White House called the Islamic Republic's move "disappointing" and emphasized America's readiness to work towards reaching an agreement with Iran over the nuclear dispute.

The stated goal of the summit was to pave the way for the US to return to the 2015 nuclear agreement and revive the JCPOA.

A White House spokesman has announced that the United States will negotiate with other countries with veto power in the Security Council, as well as Germany, to determine a common solution to Iran's nuclear activities.

Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesman for the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had announced that there was no need to negotiate with the United States to return to the JCPOA.

The Islamic Republic has said that if the US lifts the sanctions envisaged by the Trump administration, Iran will also comply with its JCPOA commitments. This is despite the fact that the new US administration has made the lifting of sanctions conditional on Iran's adherence to its JCPOA commitments.
