Corona and heat increase per capita water consumption in Tehran by 20%

Mohammad Reza Bakhtiari, CEO of Tehran Water Authority, has announced a 20 percent increase in per capita water consumption in Tehran and says that Tehran's water situation has reached an orange level, which he called "dead end."
Mr. Bakhtiari, announcing that there was a 25% increase in consumption with the start of the coronavirus outbreak, says that the start of the heating season has put additional pressure on the urban water network.
According to the capital's water and sewage official, even if there is enough water behind the dams around Tehran, the capacity of the transmission facilities is limited, and according to him, water is now entering Tehran at full capacity.
Among the ways to reduce water consumption, especially in the hot season, is to avoid using drinking water for unnecessary purposes, such as washing cars, watering green spaces, and filling swimming pools.
