11 police officers killed in armed attack in Sistan and Baluchestan

The Sistan and Baluchestan provincial police force announced the killing of 11 police officers and the wounding of several others in an armed attack in Rask city.
An armed attack took place on a police headquarters in the early hours of Friday, December 14, killing 11 police officers and wounding several others. The headquarters was located in Rask County, where two of the attackers were killed and one was wounded.
The police initially put the number of dead at 12, while local sources put the number of injured police officers at 7. After the attack, military helicopters continuously flew over the cities of Rask, Iranshahr, Sarbaz, and surrounding areas.
According to the state-run IRNA news agency, the "Army of Justice" group has claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement. The group has repeatedly clashed with Iranian Revolutionary Guards and border guards in Sistan and Baluchestan, taking a number of them hostage or killing them.
Last month (November), the Islamic Republic's judiciary announced the execution of three people in Zahedan who had collaborated with the Jaysh al-Adl group. Also, media outlets affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard Corps had attributed the attack on worshippers in Zahedan in October 1401, which turned into a bloody Friday, to the Jaysh al-Adl group without providing any evidence. Mawlavi Abdul Hamid, the Sunni Friday imam of Zahedan, denied this claim, after which Islamic Republic officials pointed to the role of insiders in the massacre.
