Another person arrested during the November 2019 protests was sentenced to prison

Javad Hosseininejad, another detainee of the November 2019 protests who is currently imprisoned in Vakil Abad Prison in Mashhad, was sentenced to 23 months in prison by the Mashhad Revolutionary Court.
According to the Human Rights in Iran website, this citizen, who lives in Mashhad, was sentenced to a total of 23 months in prison by Branch 6 of the Mashhad Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Hossein Bahmanabadi, on charges of "propaganda against the system" and "insulting the leadership," and this sentence was served on him in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
This sentence was issued to Javad Hosseininejad despite the fact that, according to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, which stipulates the aggregation of sentences, if this sentence is confirmed by the Court of Appeal, only 15 months of it will be applicable as the maximum punishment for the charge of "insulting the leadership."
According to the published report and the issued court order, this citizen, who lives in Mashhad, was facing another charge at the time of his arrest, namely "membership in groups opposed to the regime and launching a channel under the title of regime change and overthrow of the regime," but the Mashhad Revolutionary Court acquitted him of the above charge.
Javad Hosseini Nejad was arrested by security forces on November 19 last year and initially transferred to the Intelligence Department detention center. After undergoing interrogation, he was transferred to Vakil Abad Prison in Mashhad. He is currently being held in Ward 5 of this prison, which is for prisoners convicted of dangerous crimes such as murder and armed robbery.
This is not the first time that the Islamic Republic has sentenced one of the detainees of the November 2019 protests to prison. Previously, Voice of America reported that Abolfazl Nejadfateh, a student activist and one of the detainees of these protests, had been sentenced to a total of 6 years in prison by Branch 29 of the Revolutionary Court on charges of "assembly and collusion" and "propaganda against the system."
Protests over the increase in gasoline prices began on Friday, November 14, in various cities in Iran, including Mashhad, Khuzestan, Ahvaz, Khorramshahr, and Behbahan, and gradually spread to all regions of the country.
The United States says the Islamic Republic is spending its wealth, rather than the Iranian people, on supporting terrorist groups and destabilizing the Middle East. The United States has also repeatedly condemned the institutionalized financial corruption and looting of Iran's God-given assets by regime affiliates, calling them among the main causes of Iran's economic and financial problems.
