‘Telushima,’ a Threat to Israel

“Terror Alarm” considered a mural painted on a tower wall in Tehran titled “Telushima” as a threat to Israel.

The website “Terror Alarm,” an informal state media outlet of Israel, published a mural from Iran and wrote: “The Islamic Republic threatens to kill millions of Israeli civilians with a nuclear bomb (which it doesn’t even possess).”

“Tariq Rauf,” former head of the verification and transparency section of the International Atomic Energy Agency, had announced in recent weeks that if Israel attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities, Iran might choose the path to obtaining a nuclear bomb. His remarks came when Iran, in response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh by Israel, had threatened Tel Aviv with retaliatory attacks.

Israel also announced it would not leave this threat and potential attack unanswered. The target of the Zionist regime’s attack on Iran was economic, military, and nuclear objectives, which U.S. President Joe Biden stated in response to Israel’s claims that while supporting an attack on Iran, he would not support attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Iran, in response to Israel’s threats, announced that any attack on Iran’s infrastructure facilities would face Tehran’s strong response.

In the October 26 attack of this year (November 5), Israel carried out three waves of airstrikes titled “Operation Days of Response” against Iran, targeting military facilities in the west and southwest of Tehran as well as bases in Ilam and Khuzestan provinces. As a result, four Iranian military personnel and one guard were killed.

“Seyyed Hossein Mousavian,” a diplomat, Iran’s former senior nuclear negotiator and founding member of the Moderation and Development Party, who spoke with the BBC network two days after these attacks, in response to the question of whether Iran would exercise restraint against Israel’s attack, said: “I don’t think so. But when Israel’s action is significant and fundamental, Iran will certainly respond at the same level or even with a stronger and more extensive response than before.”

He also added, in response to what Iran would do if Israel attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities: “I believe Israel will not attack Iran’s nuclear facilities because Netanyahu knows that Iran will attack Israel’s nuclear facilities, even the Dimona nuclear center. But if Israel attacks Iran’s nuclear facilities, it will push Iran toward building an atomic bomb. Look what happened during Trump’s period? Iran was fully implementing the JCPOA, which was the most comprehensive agreement in the history of nuclear diplomacy in the world. Trump withdrew from the JCPOA and imposed the most severe sanctions on Iran, while Iran was fulfilling the greatest nuclear commitments. This strategic mistake by Trump caused Iran to reduce its JCPOA commitments, increase its nuclear capabilities, and transform into a country on the threshold of a nuclear bomb. Now, if Israel attacks Iran, it will cause Iran to transform from a country on the threshold of a nuclear bomb into a country possessing a nuclear bomb.”

After ten days had passed since Israel’s attack on Iran’s military centers and Iran’s warnings against Israel, the website “Terror Alarm,” an Israeli media outlet, published a photo of a mural painted on a tower wall in Tehran and wrote: “Telushima is a combination of Tel Aviv and Hiroshima. The Islamic Republic threatens to kill millions of Israeli civilians with a nuclear bomb which it doesn’t even possess.” The aforementioned media outlet considered the location of all such threatening propaganda as a legitimate target and threatened its destruction.
