Leila Blookat, a film and theater actress, was sentenced to imprisonment in one of Semnan’s prisons due to voluntary covering (wearing a hat). Her sentence was issued with minor modifications in addition to similar previous convictions.
According to the issued ruling, she has been sentenced to: two years of prohibition from media activities including domestic and foreign platforms, performance activities, acting, advertising in real and virtual spaces; two years of prohibition from leaving the country; five years of prohibition from virtual space activities directly or indirectly; studying and summarizing a book within one month; and ten months of disciplinary imprisonment in one of Semnan province’s prisons, of which six months are suspended for five years.
Mehdi Kohian, a producer and legal expert, also wrote on this matter: “The progress of Branch 1088 of the Criminal Court Two in issuing severe sentences outside judicial norms due to the use of hat covering is exemplary.”
