Ebrahim Firuzi, a Christian convert, was sent to Sarbaz County to serve his deportation order.

Ebrahim Firoozi, a Christian convert who had previously been sentenced to five years in prison, was released from prison after completing his sentence and went to Sarbaz County to serve his exile sentence.

An informed source told VOA that the Christian convert, who was released from Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj on November 25 after serving his sentence, went to Sarbaz County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, on Tuesday, November 12, to serve his two-year exile sentence, and presented himself to the Rask Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office.

In August 2013, Ebrahim Firouzi was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Robat Karim County to one year in prison and two years of exile to Sarbaz County, located in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, one of the deprived provinces of Iran, on charges of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran," "establishing and directing a deviant Christian evangelical organization," and "establishing a Christian website."

According to this informed person, in September of that year, just one month after the verdict was issued, he was arrested by security forces and transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison to serve his sentence.

While serving his sentence in prison, this Christian convert was sentenced to five years in prison in a separate case by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Moghiseh, on charges of "forming a group with the intention of disrupting the country's security."

This informed person told VOA that Mr. Firouzi was deprived of access to medical services and the right to leave during his imprisonment, and that prison officials even prevented him from being sent on leave after the death of his mother in December 2018.

Representatives from 33 countries, including the United States, criticized the violation of the rights of ethnic and religious minorities in Iran at a periodic meeting to review the human rights situation in Iran.

Previously, international human rights organizations and the United States Department of State have repeatedly condemned the Islamic Republic government's treatment of religious minorities and violations of their civil rights.
