Haft Tapeh sugarcane workers' strike continues for fourth day

The union protest of workers at the Haft Tappeh Agricultural and Industrial Complex continued on Sunday, August 19, and entered its fourth day.

According to news sources in Iran, about 500 protesting workers began a strike in front of the complex's management building four days ago to protest the non-payment of their demands.

Workers at the Haft Tappeh complex have been demanding unpaid wages and insurance premiums for several months.

Workers at Haft Tapeh Sugar Company have been facing backlogs of salaries and other union problems for years, and in recent years they have repeatedly held protests and strikes to protest the postponement of their demands.

Haft Tapeh Sugarcane Company has faced problems since its privatization in 2015, and has mostly delayed the payment of salaries to its workers. According to ILNA news agency, in the new protests, the workers announced that they are demanding at least three months of salaries.
