Personal information of over 500 million Facebook users leaked online

A hacker has said he has published the personal information of more than 500 million Facebook users for free on a website.
Reuters reported that this information includes contact numbers, residential addresses, emails, as well as other personal data such as users' dates of birth.
In total, data on 533 million people from 106 countries has been made publicly available. These include 32 million Americans, 11 million Britons and six million Indians.
However, Facebook has announced that this information is old and relates to the hacking of user information in August 2019, and it has previously warned users about it.
Alon Gal, founder of the Israeli cybercrime intelligence firm Hudson Rock, told Reuters that the information appeared to be related to data exchanged between hackers since January of this year.
The information was published on a website that is associated with low-level hackers.
Mr. Gall said that after studying the published information, he confirmed that the contact numbers and personal data of those he knew were correct.
