Revenge against journalists by imprisoning Saeideh Shafi'i and Nasim Soltanbeigi

Reporters Without Borders announced the imprisonment of Saeideh Shafi'i and Nasim Soltanbeigi, and declared that their imprisonment was revenge against journalists.
Saeideh Shafiei and Nasim Soltanbeigi, two Iranian journalists who had reported on the nationwide protests, were sentenced to three years and six months in prison. Saeideh Shafiei was transferred to Evin Prison on November 19 and Nasim Soltanbeigi on November 20.
They were convicted in Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of participating in "illegal gatherings" and "propaganda against the regime," even though their journalistic duties require them to record and document events in order to prepare news reports.
Reporters Without Borders, in a statement about the imprisonment of the two journalists, wrote: "These two journalists, like many of their colleagues in Iran, are paying the price for covering the Women, Life, Freedom movement. The Islamic Republic continues to take revenge on journalists who, since September 16, 2022 (25 Shahrivar 1401 AH), have fulfilled their duty to the public right to receive news and information. These brave women should be commended, not imprisoned. We demand their immediate and unconditional release."
In addition to Ms. Shafiei and Soltanbeigi, 10 other journalists have been arrested since the beginning of the 1401 protests and are still in prison on charges of propaganda against the regime.
