HRANA News Agency reported, citing Hamshahri, that a person accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl was arrested in Tehran.
According to the report, on Monday evening, a 14-year-old girl got out of a Peugeot 405 behind traffic near Moshiriya and ran towards police officers who were nearby. When she reached the officers, she was panicked and pointed at the Peugeot and said, “The driver of this car kidnapped me and abused me.”
With these words, the officers of the Moshirie police station took action to arrest the suspect. However, the man in the Peugeot fled as soon as he saw the officers, and a chase began. He failed to escape and was arrested.
After arresting the man, the officers first began to investigate the teenage girl. She said: “We live near Shush Square. I left the house to buy food from a restaurant. But on the way, a man in a Peugeot stopped me. He got out of the car and came towards me. He had a knife in his hand and threatened to kill me. He said if you scream, I will kill you, and then he threatened me and made me get into his car.”
The 14-year-old girl continued: “The Peugeot driver threatened me and harassed me and stole the 100,000 Tomans I had with me. After that, he drove towards Moshirieh, and while I was stuck in traffic, I took the opportunity and, seeing the police patrol, jumped out of the car and asked for help.”
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty during interrogations. He claimed that the teenage girl was lying and making up stories. He said: “I am a composer and I work in the field of making music videos. On the night of the incident, I was busy making music videos in the studio. When I finished, I left the office and got into my car to go home. It was near Moshirieh when I saw a motorcyclist who threatened the teenage girl and took her hostage and tried to force her onto his motorcycle.”
The defendant continued: "Upon seeing this scene, I decided to go help the teenage girl and save her from the motorcyclist. Fortunately, my efforts paid off and I saved the teenage girl. After that, I put her in my car to take her home."
The defendant added: "I don't know what happened when the teenage girl suddenly threw herself out of the car behind the traffic and went to the police. I don't know why she made up a story and said I harassed her. If I ran away when I saw the police, I was just scared. I don't know why I reacted like that, but I'm really innocent and I decided to run away when I saw the officers without any intention."
The suspect was arrested with a legal warrant, and investigations into the case are ongoing to clarify the facts of the incident.
It should be noted that in the popular literature of licensed media, the word harassment is used to refer to rape and various forms of sexual harm.
