Assyrian priests and churches of Urmia visit Husseini processions

Assyrian priests and the three churches of Urmia visited the processions of Sunnis and Christians, Armenians and Assyrians at the "Tamrchin-Piranshahr" border.

The "Tamrchin Piranshahr" border was recognized as an official land border in 2007, and in 2012, for the first time, Arbaeen pilgrims were allowed to cross this border, with approximately 70,000 crossings recorded during the aforementioned period. This border also plays a significant role in the economy of the Piranshahr region.

According to "Rdna", a group of Assyrian clergy and priests from the three churches of Urmia, the political and social deputy governor of West Azerbaijan, and officials from Piranshahr city came to visit the Sunni procession. They first visited the procession of Christians, Armenians, and Assyrians.

The visit was attended by the General Caliphate of the Armenians of West Azerbaijan, Father Dariavosh Azizian, head of the Eastern Church of Urmia, Charlie Anouyeh, representative of the Assyrians in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, and Armenian and Assyrian clergy. They also visited the Sunni procession organized by the benefactors of Piranshahr.

Pastor Daryavosh Azizian said about attending this gathering: "Arbaeen pilgrims get tired on the way to Karbala, and this procession has been set up to feed and rest these loved ones."

"Charlie Anoue," a Christian and Assyrian representative in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, also said: "West Azerbaijan is a rainbow province of religions and ethnicities, and we live in solidarity with other compatriots and consider it necessary to be present in all areas. Since the Islamic Revolution, the imposed war, and the outbreak of the Corona virus, the Christian community has been present at events, and during the Corona virus, Christian doctors and nurses, like others, were present in treating patients regardless of religion. Today, by launching this procession, which is a duty, we have tried to participate in this good cause."

The head of the Eastern Church of Urmia also stated in this regard: "There are numerous verses in the Bible about respecting one's neighbor and sharing in the sorrow and joy of others, and in this regard, for the third consecutive year, a procession of Christians, Armenians, and Assyrians has been launched on the Tamarchin route."

The reception of the priests of the Christian, Armenian, and Assyrian communities, with local bread "Kalaneh" and local soup "Duklio", as well as a nomad tent for a special Sunni procession, were among the highlights of this visit, which were welcomed by many.
