Amir Hossein Sairfi released from Evin Prison after serving his sentence

Amir Hossein (Iman) Sairfi, a security prisoner, was released from Evin Prison on Saturday, October 16, after serving about 7 years in prison. Mr. Sairfi was arrested in November 2013 and about a year later was sentenced by the Tehran Revolutionary Court to 7 years of penal servitude and 3 years of suspended sentence.
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Saturday, October 16, 2020, Amir Hossein (Iman) Sairfi, a security prisoner, was released from Evin Prison upon completion of his sentence.
Amir Hossein Sairfi was arrested by security forces at his home on November 17, 2013, and transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence's detention center, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison. After spending more than a month in solitary confinement, he was transferred to general Ward 350 of the prison upon completion of interrogations.
After more than a year of detention, Mr. Sairfi was finally tried in February 2014 by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, and sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment and 3 years of suspended sentence on the charge of “communication with hostile states.” This sentence was confirmed in full by the Court of Appeal in July 2016 and communicated to him.
Mr. Sairfi's family has always demanded that the judicial authorities provide evidence, documentation, and legal reasons for his arrest throughout the case process.
While serving his sentence in Ward 7, Hall 12 of Evin Prison, Mr. Sairfi was transferred from Ward 4, Hall 1 of the prison late last year.
Amir Hossein (Iman) Sairfi is a computer engineer and cybersecurity expert.
