Government encourages Armenian Christians to participate in elections

The Islamic Republic government has begun an effort to encourage and encourage Armenian Christians, other minorities, guilds, and ethnic groups to participate in the elections.

After more than a year since the start of nationwide protests, repression of the people by regime elements, harming people, killing children, shooting many protesters in the eyes and blinding them, and torturing and executing over 38 protesters, people's dissatisfaction with the Islamic Republic government has increased to the point that the "elections" were boycotted by the people.

In such circumstances, when the regime saw its defeat and the decline of its legitimacy in front of the people, it has begun its efforts to encourage minorities to participate in the elections that are scheduled to be held in Esfand 1402. "Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Akbari," the interim Friday prayer imam in Tehran, stated in Friday prayer sermons that the Iranian elections are one of the healthiest elections in the world and that people should participate in these elections.

Regarding the regime's efforts and policies to get people to vote in the elections, Armenian leaders and Christian representatives in the Islamic Consultative Assembly are working to publicize the elections and increase participation in the event. Also, MP Robert Beglaryan said in this regard: "Participating in the elections is part of re-legitimizing the powerful nature of the Islamic Republic system. Participating in the elections helps the world know that regardless of all the concerns and any problems that exist, they are within the family and can be solved."

Government representatives in various institutions and organizations are also trying to warm up the election oven through successive meetings with representatives and leaders of the Armenian community. In this regard, Isfahan Governor Reza Mortazavi, after visiting the Armenian cemetery in late January, went to Vank Church to talk with the Armenian Archbishop and stated in this meeting: "Armenian compatriots should play another role of solidarity by participating in the elections."

The government's efforts to bring Armenians to the polls come at a time when many Christian citizens are even denied government jobs and face additional discrimination from the government. However, the Iranian people have a different opinion. According to their claims, it is believed that Iranian Armenians, like other ethnic groups, will not participate in the show elections because they know that these are show elections and that their participation in this ceremony is an endorsement of the system, the benefit of which is only for the government of the Islamic Republic and not for the people.
